About
The SuperYacht Racing Association (SYRA) is a non-profit organisation committed to ensuring safer and fairer superyacht racing.
- Founded by Ed Dubois, with the support of sailing superyacht owners and associated industry professionals, SYRA was formerly established in May 2011.
- Led by a committee of industry experts and stakeholders, SYRA is dedicated to supporting the superyacht regatta circuit and has established clear protocols and guidelines for the safe racing of large yachts. The wider mission of SYRA is to attract a greater number of owners to regatta participation and heighten the enjoyment of superyacht regatta racing for everyone involved.
- SYRA serves as the collective voice for racing superyachts, regatta organizers and the industry regarding World Sailing’s superyacht racing rules and Rule Authorities’ handicapping policies and rule development.
- SYRA is the central contact point for regatta organizers to ensure consistency and continuity at regattas regarding safe sailing and fair racing best practices while providing periodic feedback. And is a central communication hub for information pertaining to superyacht racing.
- Membership is open to any superyacht owner already participating in regattas or intending to do so. An industry membership is available to companies active in this sector who wish to support SYRA’s mission and help shape the future of superyacht racing, and to the regatta organisers who wish to operate their event under the guidelines of SYRA.
- Industry members include designers, builders, sail makers, insurance providers, spar and winch manufacturers.
SYRA Committees
SYRA is governed by a group of 14 Executive Committee members who are joined on sub committees by other SYRA members. Each Committee addresses an important aspect of SYRA’s work and decisions are made via voting process.

Current committee members include shipyard directors, regatta organisers, sail makers, captains and naval architects.
