The fifth edition of the Ibiza Joy Sail welcomed a fleet of 22 yachts, and day one commenced with a 15-nautical-mile course set by Race Director Nacho Postigo and his committee.
This year’s edition saw half the fleet racing as Corinthian, a defining feature of this increasingly popular regatta. Among the 450-plus crew gathered at Marina Ibiza were Olympic athletes, world champions, offshore racers, and many more.
There was no slacking in performance across the fleet with many of the classes tied at the top at the start of racing on day four.

At the larger end of the fleet, in the Performance Cruising XL class, L’Hippocampe, with recent ORC Champion Jesper Raddich as tactician, took the Class win.
Liberty Squared, with Bouwe Bekking as tactician and Alicia Ageno as navigator, won the Performance Cruising L class with second-placed Kiboko 4 winning the Corinthian Trophy for the class.
As ever, the Performance Cruising M class was a high octane battle. Café Racer twins, Open Season and Ganesha remained neck and neck into the final race of the event, but Open Season won the class overall. Open Season’s helm Thomas Bscher commented: “We are very happy with the week. It is very evenly matched and there is very little difference and once you get ahead you have a big advantage, and it difficult to overtake. We are very happy, we have had a great week, and we will come back!”
In the Performance Class, Moat once again showed their form with four straight wins and lifted the class trophy for the fifth time.
